Basque Language Day

Today we celebrated Basque Language Day both at school and outdoors (at Sagastieder Square). Among other activities, Primary 6 students put together the pieces of a giant puzzle. We are sure you can recognise the world famous painting by Pablo Picasso: "Gernika". However, it is a brave colourful version, isn't it?

We also paid homage to a great Basque folk singer and avant-garde artist: the late Mikel Laboa, who died last Monday, aged 74. We sang some of his most popular songs.

Txoria txori is probably one of his most beautiful odes to freedom. That is why our pupils learnt it by heart. Beautiful murals like the one in the picture helped us to remember him.
